True Blood

Anyone heard about/see the new HBO series "True Blood"? (If you have tell me about it in the comments.)
Well, Time Magazine had an article about this new vampire show.
Here's the basic plotline or setting:
*Vampires try to live alongside humans by drinking synthetic blood instead of human blood.
*Humans know about vampires, and some believe they are still going to drink their blood, so there are protests and such.
*It is hard for vamps to resist human blood.
*One such vamp falls in love with/starts dating a human girl, and people start dying.
*The human girl can read minds, but not HIS.

~Clears throat~
Sound familiar?
Even Time said it was probably made because of the Twilight craze. And you know what really got me? The READING MINDS part. AND THE FACT THAT SHE CAN'T READ HIS. And that this makes her more interested in him.
Hmmm....I wonder....

  1. Although True Blood has only aired one episode it is so far very catchy. I really enjoyed it. While it may have a very few small coincidences with Twilight it is in no way for Young Adults. It is definitely for an 18+ crowd. I look forward to next weeks episode and hope others check it out too. Just remember mind reading is not a new idea in Vampire Mythology ;-)

  2. hmm...
yes i havent seen it, it sounds okay..the thing that caught my eye about the mindreading thing, though, is that a prominent reason why the girl is interested in the vamp is that she cant read his mind, which is what made edward interested in bella.

  3. True Blood resembles Heroes at first glance (just rented the first episode from Blockbuster), though it still feels mostly original... for some reason this show makes me want to eat Cajun food and drink cheap beer

  4. This show just makes me even more sad that Moonlight wasn't continued for another season.... it was a way better show from what ive seen so far. True Blood has waaaay too much nudity for my taste. But ah i guess i shall continue to watch it ..

  5. The True Blood books were written a long time before Twilight came out. As much as I love the Twilight series, the logic follows that Meyers got ideas from True Blood, not the other way around.
