Rob not a REAL man? How DARE you?!

The Daily Mail claims:

"It's one thing for dogs to look like their owners, but for lovers to, as well, is surely a step too far. Isn't it far more alluring to enjoy the 'otherness' of your partner? I'd hate to share my moisturiser with my husband, or find him stealing my mascara.

After her split with Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston said: 'I'll never date a man prettier than me again.'  I agree. Who needs the competition? But something else is going on in the world of male/female sexual attraction.

Dr Lynda Boothroyd, a lecturer in evolutionary psychology at the University of Durham, recently conducted a survey to determine what kind of men women were attracted to as long-term partners, and found that they chose as the best potential long-term mates the 'feminine' faces they were shown, with wide eyes, finer features and thinner, more curved eyebrows.

The more masculine types, with larger noses, smaller eyes and thicker eyebrows, were viewed as less faithful and worse parents. It appears that women think a man with a square jaw will be out and about scattering his seed like a gardener on speed, instead of staying at home and being a good family man.

So it seems we have undergone a dramatic sea change in the kind of men that women of all ages are attracted to. Out goes Russell Crowe, in comes Ashton Kutcher (who, at 31, is happily married to 46-year-old Demi Moore).

It's one thing that the likes of Zac Efron and Twilight star Robert Pattinson are adorning the walls of our teenage daughters' bedrooms - they are, after all, near to them in age - but quite another that many of them are filling the beds of women many years their senior. Even women who have done their procreating are going for man-boys instead of 'real' men.
These days, no one wants to grow up, and where once the adage for a man was that he was as old as the woman he feels, it's now a case of women finding youth in the arms of boys. If you can't hold on to youth for yourself, you can at least wear it on your arm and hope in some vampiric way to absorb it into yourself.

Really, now? Rob isn't a "REAL MAN"? What does that even MEAN?

After reading this article, I immediately directed my attention to Urban Dictionary (one of my favorite non-Twilight hangouts) and looked up the definition of a "real man".
" A true man can best be described as rugged and that does not have any fears. A man has a good deal amount of knowledge about tools, cars, the outodoors, knows how to act around women by being a gentlemen, but is not always serious and can have fun with them. Men financially provide for others and themselves and are overall responsible. Men are clean, well groomed, and can have a very short beard to portray that image of ruggedness. True men do not think about themselves. They do not always think about sex. They stand up for what they believe, take responsibility for their actions, help others, they are self confident, physically stong and in shape, have a sense of humor, generous, honest, and are considerate. They provide a sense of security. Men are brave and do not need to show off for their friends nor do their sway their opinions because of their friends. Now even if you are biologically a man, this does not mean you fit my definition of all the components of what a real man is. "
Uhuh. So you have to have a "short beard" to be a real man? So maybe Rob does have some fears, but that just makes him human, okay? *sobs*

Hmph. Maybe I'm a bit protective of Rob's manliness, but unless the woman who wrote this article can say truthfully that she wouldn't screw RPattz (because everyone would if they could, don't lie) then HE'S A MAN. Or else she's not a woman. Mwahahaha.

Thanks to Twilight Treasury for the tip! :)

  2. Could stubble classify as a 'short beard'?? If so, then Rob is a real man, which we all knew anyways. And this part in the article
'but quite another that many of them are filling the beds of women many years their senior'
ummm... Rob can fill my bed!
